Columbia Mapper

An augmented reality indoor wayfinding system that helps students explore spaces, amenities, and histories of Columbia University.

Columbia Mapper

Finding our way from one class to another is tedious and often painful in Columbia University's labyrinth-like campus structure.

Columbia Mapper is an indoor wayfinding system built to allow students to explore and learn of new spaces, amenities, facts and histories of the university. The system blends the physical and digital — layering contextual information onto real-world spaces through augmented reality.

Built using the Niantic AR map along with WebGL and WebXR modules to create an engaging augmented experience. The system surfaces information about rooms, buildings, historical facts and campus amenities in real-time as users navigate the campus.
